General babywearing
From what age can I carry my baby?
You can carry your baby immediately after birth, provided you use the correct carrying method. For newborns, a stretchy wrap, woven wrap, or an ergonomic carrier such as the Wrap & Go + or the Click & Go + is most suitable. These support your child ergonomically, are comfortable for you, are easy to use, and are certified for safe fabrics and product safety.
Is babywearing safe?
Yes, babywearing is safe provided you maintain the correct posture and keep the airways clear at all times. Ensure that the baby's chin does not drop onto their chest, the airways are unobstructed, and the back is well-supported in an ergonomic M-position (frog position). Still in doubt? How long can I carry my baby per day?
There is no fixed time limit, as long as the baby is comfortable, is ergonomically supported, and you have no physical discomfort. Start slowly to build it up and listen to your own body after giving birth. You can also carry your baby after a C-section, but the same rule applies: build it up slowly and listen to your body.
The more hours you carry, the calmer the baby will be, and often the better their sleep will be at night. Babies need more than 10 hours of skin-to-skin contact, and carrying them during the day allows for this while keeping your hands free.
Carriers & Wraps
Which carrier is best for a newborn baby?
A baby with a birth weight of 3300 grams or more will fit in the stretchy wrap, woven wrap, and both the Click & Go + and Wrap & Go + carriers. It is really down to your personal preference which product you choose.
What is the difference between a stretchy and a woven wrap?
A stretchy wrap is elastic and ideal for newborns and young babies up to about a year old. With this, you can only carry your baby on the front. A woven wrap offers more back support and is suitable for all ages and carrying positions, including on the back. A woven wrap is recommended for the summer, as a stretchy wrap is often too warm.
Can I also carry my baby on my back?
Yes, back carrying is possible as soon as your baby can sit upright well (usually around 8 months). For this, use a woven wrap, the Click & Go + carrier, or the Wrap & Go +. Always practice back carrying for the first time over a low bed or with the help of someone else.
How do I know what size carrier I need?
Our ergonomic carriers are adjustable and fit babies from approx. 3300 grams up to clothing size 86 (about 1.5 to 2 years old). The carriers have been tested up to 20 kg and are safe for long-term use. They are designed to fit any body type, whether you are very slim or a larger size.
How do I know what size wrap I need?
Woven wraps come in size 6 or 7. The size you choose depends on your body type. If you are a woman up to size 44 (EU) or a man up to size L, choose size 6. For larger sizes, choose size 7.
Can I also carry my child facing forward?
No, that is not good for your child's back and hips. Even with brands that claim it is possible. The body is not yet ready to sit in that position, and the hips are pulled backwards unnaturally and are not supported. It is better to wait until you can carry them on your back. That way, curious children can look around. If your child is very curious, a ringsling is sometimes a great choice. You carry them on your hip, which allows the little one to see more, but from the correct position.
Wool blankets
What is the TOG rating of the wool blankets?
Wool works differently than other materials and is therefore often not given an official TOG rating. Wool insulates, which means it retains heat when needed, and when a child is too warm, it releases heat. This property makes wool the safest material in a baby's bed. To give you an idea, every product includes a TOG rating that you can use for comparison.
Are the Pure Baby Love wool blankets mulesing-free?
Absolutely! Our blankets are certified by multiple labels and are mulesing-free. Mulesing is a painful procedure performed on sheep, and we naturally want to prevent this.
Are the Pure Baby Love wool blankets free of superwash treatment?
Yes! Superwash applies a kind of plastic layer to wool to make it easier to wash. However, you don't want plastics near your baby. That is why we only choose production methods that do not use superwash.
Which certifications do the Pure Baby Love wool blankets have?
Pure Baby Love wool blankets are certified by OEKO-tex, Woolmark, and Wool Integrity NZ. These are important labels when it comes to natural materials without toxic or chemical substances.
The blankets smell a bit like sheep/farm; is that normal?
Yes, exactly! This smell only disappears if you treat the wool chemically, and that is precisely what you do not want for baby wool. Know that if you air out the blanket early in the morning and start using it, the smell will disappear quickly and it will take on your own scent. So, it is actually a good sign.
Why is a sheepskin not white?
It’s very simple: a sheep is never completely white, but rather a yellowish white. If you want to make a skin white, you have to bleach it chemically, and that is a process you would rather avoid for a baby product. So, a skin has its 100% natural color: a yellowish white.
Ordering & delivery
How quickly will my order be delivered?
Orders placed on business days before 12:00 PM will be shipped the same day. Delivery time within the Netherlands is 1–2 business days. For Belgium and other EU countries, the delivery time is 2–5 business days.
What are the shipping costs?
Shipping within the Netherlands is free for orders over €50. For orders below this, we charge a contribution of €1.99. We cover the rest of the costs.
To Belgium and Germany, this threshold is €75, and we charge a contribution of €7.99 for orders below that amount.
For other countries in the EU, the threshold is also €75 and the contribution is €12.99.
We always ship insured.
Can I return a product?
Yes, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the day it is delivered to you. Products may be returned unused. Please contact us at info@purebabylove.com to register a return. Note: for hygienic reasons, used products cannot be returned. It is also important that they have not been washed, are neatly back in the original packaging, and are free of pet hair, etc.
